Changes to Our Service

The KCN Office is closed, but all of our staff are working from home to provide as much support as possible to our carers during this time.

Contacting Us

We can all access our emails, and the main office number will be redirected to a mobile phone. We began a project at the beginning of the year to migrate all our applications and files to the Cloud, so this is being continued with more urgency to be completed as soon as possible.See Contact Us for more details.

Adult Carers' Support Workers

All appointments will be carried out by telephone, but non-urgent referrals are currently taking 3-4 weeks, so please be patient. The team will also be keeping in touch by email and sending online resources to help advise and support you.  If you have a deadline or require urgent help, please make sure you make this clear when you contact us.

We are in constant touch with RBK who will be as flexible as they can to support KCN and our carers.

Help for Carers who are Self-Isolating

We have a team of volunteers who can help with shopping, or have a chat over the phone if you are struggling to cope and are self-isolating because you are an older carer, have been identified as particularly vulnerable to the virus, or caring for someone that is.

Please contact us if you need help

Emergency PPE Requests

In response to the COVID -19 Emergency the Council has secured a small supply of PPE that we would like to ensure is distributed to those caring for the most vulnerable and are having difficulty accessing essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

If you have no supplies of PPE and you require PPE to support another person on a routine basis you can request an emergency supply by contacting us, and we will submit your request to the council. Please note that we cannot guarantee when you will recieve equipment, as it is dependant upon the supplies available.

Older Carers

Liz has sent out letters to all our Older Carers (over 65) and Dementia Carers and is keeping in touch by telephone. If you know an older carer that does not have access to the internet, they can contact Liz by phone.

Activities

We have unfortunately had to cancel all our planned activities until further notice. We will update the website when normal working resumes, but the best way to keep updated is to receive our email bulletins. Sign up for our email bulletins if you have not already done so.

Counselling

Some of our counsellors and providing telephone counselling for existing clients, or regular telephone catch-ups where this is not possible. We are not currently starting any new clients with counsellors as this requires face to face assessments and supervision, so this will unfortunately mean longer waiting times for those on the counselling waiting list. If you have any queries, you can contact Helen.

Young Carers

Our Targeted Suport Worker is keeping in touch by phone with Young Carers who are in need of additional support but do not meet the criteria for social workers to prioritise.

We have sent activity packs to all our Young Carers to keep them occupied, and creating videos for to Facebook and our You Tube channel to keep them entertained.

Update July 2020:

We have resumed some of the Young Carers activites for small groups following our strict YCP Covid-19 Protocol.
