Young Carers' Wellbeing
Carol Harvey is our Young Carers’ Wellbeing Worker and responsible for the Wellbeing Project which supports young carers from families where there are complex needs and/or a lack of support to family members. The aims of the project are for young carers to develop skills to build their resilience, to reduce isolation and to protect young carers from any excessive or inappropriate levels of caring.
Carol will work with young carers individually and in small groups as well as attending some of the regular activities eg Drop Ins. Carol will follow a whole family approach, taking the needs of the entire family into account and will provide information, advocacy and signposting/referral to other services for any of the young carers’ family members who may also be in need of support.
Friday Fit Club
Keep Active is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing – every Friday a group of young carers attend the Friday Fit Club and get active in Latchmere Park for 90 minutes of sports and games. So far we have tried baseball, football, dodgeball, hide and seek “it” and we are waiting for a new net so we can try badminton and volleyball. The group have also visited some of the other parks around RBK to try out the free exercise equipment.
