Hampton Court Palace with the sun trying to break through cloud

Georgian Movement - Sensory Palaces at Hampton Court

Tuesday 21 January 2025
10:30 to 14:30

For carers of people with dementia and the person they care for.

Hampton Court say "For nearly a decade, our Sensory Palaces programme has enabled people living with dementia and their companions to explore our palaces’ stories and spaces using their senses. Together, we have evidence the positive impact of heritage, storytelling and creativity on participants’ mental health and wellbeing.

We know as the ageing population grows, there is an increased need for programmes that support adults with cognitive impairment and dementia. We want Sensory Palaces to support this audience through their dementia journey.

This year, we are trialling a new session format for Sensory Palaces. The aim to is create a longer, more relaxed experience for individuals, companions and groups affected by dementia.

  • Each session includes time in the palace, an activity in the learning centre, as well as time for lunch and a chance to socialise with others.
  • The palace will be closed on the day to help provide a more relaxed atmosphere.
  • Parking is provided on-site free of charge. We do not require your car registration details.
  • There will be hot drinks and refreshments available, as well as a light vegetarian lunch. You are welcome to bring your own food.
  • The learning centre is a short distance from the palace so please bring walking aids where possible. We will have a limited number of wheelchairs available on the day.
  • If you are running late on the day, please contact 020 3166 6641 (which will take you through to the Clore Learning Centre)."
