Dementia Carers’ Adviser/Support Worker (Part-time 21 hours per week)
KCN is looking for a part-time adviser to provide one-to-one advice to carers of people living with dementia. This will involve outreach work, on the elderly patients’ wards, at Kingston Hospital, identifying carers and offering support. You will provide advice and advocacy on a wide range of issues including: community care, welfare benefits and carers’ rights.
Salary £15,750 for 21 hours per week
Carers’ Adviser/Support Worker (Part-time 12 hours per week)
KCN is also looking for a part-time adviser to provide one-to-one advice and support to carers of people living with physical and mental health problems. You will provide advice and advocacy on issues such as community care, welfare benefits and carers’ rights. You will also carry out carers’ assessments.
Salary £8999 for 12 hours per week
These are two separate posts but we would consider combining the hours to make a full time post.

Benefits Adviser and Tribunal Representative (Full-time 36 hours per week)
Kingston Carers’ Network is a thriving carers’ charity providing a wide range of services to adult and young carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston. We are currently supporting over 4000 carers who are caring for a relative or friend with a disability, illness, mental health problem or substance addiction. We often support people with benefit claims and appeals, particularly in relation to decisions about capability and disability.
We are seeking a full-time Benefits Adviser and Tribunal Representative to provide carers, and the people they care for, with advice and support to access the benefits and allowances they may be entitled to. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of benefits advice work. Experience of preparation for appeals and advocacy at hearings is desirable. We are looking for someone with the necessary skills and abilities to advise carers, carry our benefit checks, complete claim forms (paper and online), gather evidence, undertake research, draft reviews and appeals, and to represent people at tribunal hearings.
Salary £30,777 per annum for 36 hours per week

Young Carers’ Support Worker (Young Londoners Fund)–
Fixed term to 31st December 2021
KCN is looking for a part-time support worker to plan and deliver a range of activities and support to young carers to ensure that the aims of the Young Londoners Fund Project are achieved. You will work to reduce social isolation and exclusion from school of young carers aged 10-18 living in Kingston upon Thames by encouraging peer support and providing opportunities for them to meet regularly as a group. This will involve raising awareness of the project and needs of young carers within schools, including delivering assembly presentations. You will also organise and co-ordinate lunch clubs in secondary schools to give young carers the opportunity for peer support and increased confidence within school. You will be expected to take responsibility for the monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes of the work, using reliable tools and systems.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours are essential (to see young carers after school and to link with professionals). The post will require some evening / weekend work. NB Wednesday evenings (term time) are required.
£21,542 for 26 hours per week per annum
