The Law Commission is reviewing the framework governing social care for disabled children in England. As part of this, they are running a consultation until 20th January 2025 on whether the legislation meets the needs of disabled children and their families.
There are specific questions and proposals in the consultation relating to sibling young carers and also parent carers, and so Carers Trust are keen to hear the views of parents and siblings of disabled children. The feedback from their recent Carers Rights; carer’s reality work and the APPG for Young Carers inquiry will also be feeding in so that the voices and experiences of parent carers and young carers are included.
Carers Trust would like to hear from carers about their experiences and their thoughts on the Law Commission’s initial proposals. Carers are invitied to fill out this form if they would like to attend a focus group with other carers on this topic. If carers would like to share their thoughts another way (e.g. by email or a voice note) or if they are responding themselves, please email youngcarersalliance@carers.org
