New Digital Carer Contingency Planning Service being developed

Carers Trust are part of a team committed to working together in partnership in order that “Carers should not have to deal with emergencies on their own”.

NHS England London in partnership with the London Universal Care Plan team and Carers Trust have committed to working together in partnership in order that “Carers should not have to deal with emergencies on their own”. Currently there is no digital records system across London which allows health staff to access Carers Contingency Plan Records.

The London Health and Care System is therefore developing a way for Carer Contingency Plans to be recorded on the Universal Care Plan. The Universal Care Plan is an NHS service that enables every Londoner to have their care and support wishes digitally shared with healthcare professionals. Whilst it is hoped they are never needed, having a plan for back-up support plan which is accessible by urgent care services is important.

Debbie Hustings, NHS England London Region Carers Lead is leading the task group who are developing the service and is seeking carers input to ensure the service reflects what carers need. It is envisaged there will be two on-line engagement sessions (July/early August) with interested carers of approximately two hours length each with further opportunities to feedback via email. The first workshop is set for 27th July 2-4pm.

We are seeking carer representation from all backgrounds. To get involved as a carer, or find out more please contact Debbie Hustings by 30th June 2023: debbie.hustings@nhs.net
