From RBK:

We have put in place a trial scheme in Thames Street from 26 July as part of a Social Spaces project in partnership with Kingston First.

This project in Thames Street aims to create more attractive, welcoming, social and accessible street environments for customers and visitors to Kingston town centre to enjoy and to support our businesses. It is hoped that temporary enhancements to the town centre will support the recovery of the local economy as we come out of lockdown, and enable local hospitality businesses to extend their outdoor eating offer.

To enable this to happen part of Thames Street has been closed to traffic except blue badge holders to enable it to become a pedestrian and cycle only zone. Access for loading and unloading within the area will be allowed from 5pm - 10am every day.

Our engagement on this scheme will run for 6 months and we want to hear your views.

Please complete our short survey (easy read version here) to give us your views about the opportunities and benefits provided by timed closure of Thames Street to traffic except blue badge holders, creating a pedestrian and cycle zone between 10am-5pm each day.  You can also tell us whether you would like to make the trial scheme permanent.

You can also complete our separate short survey about your experience of the planters and seating in Thames Street, Fife Road and outside Station Plaza to improve and enhance your experience of Kingston town centre created through the Social Spaces project.
